WKE generates electricity at four stations that it operates and maintains under a 25-year lease agreement with Big Rivers Electric Corporation. The stations are owned by Big Rivers Electric Corporation with the exception of HMP&L Station Two which is owned by Henderson Municipal Power and Light. Through new technology, innovative business practices, and hard-working, dedicated employees, WKE focuses on reducing energy costs to build a better way of life for all Kentuckians.

Sebree Station (coal fired and fuel oil)
Sebree complex consists of Reid Station/HMP&L Station Two and Green Stations.
Reid Station/HMP&L Station Two
- Located in Sebree, Kentucky, the plant began commercial operation in 1966 and has a net generating capacity of 442,000 kilowatts (377,000 kilowatts from coal and 65,000 kilowatts from fuel oil/natural gas).
- The station has 93 employees that operate the three coal-fired steam turbines and the dual fuel (fuel oil or natural gas) fired combustion turbine.
- HMP&L Station Two - units 1 and 2 were retrofitted with state of the art scrubbers during the mid-1990's that remove more than 90% of the sulfur dioxide from the flue gas stream.
- HMP&L Station Two - units 1 and 2 are currently being retrofitted with state of the art SCR's for NOx removal (90%+ is design removal rate).
- Reid/HMP&L Station Two burns approximately 150 tons of fuel per hour delivered by truck or barge.
Green Station
- Located in Sebree, Kentucky, the plant began commercial operation in 1979 and has a net generating capacity of 454,000 kilowatts (all from coal)
- Green Station has 117 employees that operate the two coal-fired steam turbines.
- Pollution control equipment includes a high-efficiency electrostatic precipitator and a scrubber system that removes more than 90% of the sulfur dioxide from the flue gas stream.
- HMP&L Station Two - units 1 and 2 are currently being retrofitted with state of the art SCR's for NOx removal (90%+ is design removal rate).
- Green Station burns approximately 200 tons of fuel per hour delivered by truck or barge.
K.C. Coleman Station (coal fired)
- Located in Hawesville, Kentucky, the plant began commercial operation in 1969.
- The station has 88 employees that operate three coal-fired electrical generating units.
- Station net generation capacity is 455,000 kilowatts.
- Pollution control equipment includes precipitators, low NOx burners, and advanced over fire air systems.
- The plant has the versatility of both barge and truck fuel supply.
D.B. Wilson Station (coal fired)
- Located in Matanzas, Kentucky, the plant began commercial operation in 1986.
- Has one coal-fired generating unit for a station net generating capacity of 420,000 kilowatts.
- Its pollution control equipment includes a high efficiency electrostatic precipitator, a scrubber that removes more than 90% of the sulfur dioxide from the flue gas, and a state of the art selective catalytic reactor (installed in 2003) that removes more than 90% of the nitrous oxides from the flue gas.
- The plant has the versatility of both barge and truck fuel supply.
