Celebrate National Women's Health Week

While much attention was focused on women over Mother's Day weekend, another special event — National Women's Health Week — kicked off on Sunday. This year's observance is the fifth annual celebration of NWHW, an event focusing on good health practices in the lives of women.

Every woman can incorporate simple preventive and positive health behaviors into everyday life. National Women's Health Week encourages women to be informed and take responsible action to improve their own health.

7 Ways Women Can Participate

When women take even the simplest steps to improve their health, the results can be significant. Make National Women's Health Week your time to do something special to focus on your health.

  1. Take Advantage of E.ON U.S.'s Wellness Program.
The Company offers a comprehensive wellness program that encourages and rewards healthy lifestyle choices. The program's wellness-focused activities and benefits include health fairs, free mammograms, reimbursements for fitness facilities and weight loss programs, and health care management programs.
  2. Schedule a Check-up on May 10, 2004.
Take time on National Women's Check-Up Day (May 10) to schedule an appointment with your doctor. One of the most important steps a woman can take for better health is to get regular check-ups and ask her health care provider about screenings for heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
  3. Participate in a National Women's Health Week Event Near You.
Across the country, numerous events and activities are planned to help women celebrate their health. Check the state-by-state listing for an event near you.
  4. Take the NWHW Challenge and Get Fit.
Thousands of women across the country will take the President's Fitness Challenge, a series of programs designed to help improve anyone's activity level. Learn more about the Challenge and how you can participate.
  5. Sign Up for Weekly Health Tips by E-mail.
