McGruff Truck Program for Kids

child waving for help
To signal a McGruff Truck driver for help, a child should wave both hands over his or her head.
Louisville Gas and Electric and Kentucky Utilities employees now have a well-known sidekick riding with them. It is McGruff, The Crime Dog. McGruff represents an important community service that LG&E and KU, subsidiaries of E.ON U.S. LLC, now provide. Through the new McGruff Truck Program, LG&E and KU employees are a visible source of quick help for children in distress or emergency situations. McGruff decals designate nearly 1,000 of the companies' vehicles as a place for children throughout Kentucky to turn for help. They simply stop, assess the child's situation, and call the local authorities for help.

To qualify for the McGruff Truck Program, E.ON U.S. met strict requirements and was approved by The National McGruff House Network, which is licensed by the National Crime Prevention Council. The McGruff Truck Program is a perfect fit for LG&E and KU employees who work throughout Kentucky, have quick access to authorities, undergo routine safety training, and are used to handling emergencies. E.ON U.S. launched the McGruff Truck Program with the support of the Kentucky State Police, the Louisville Metro Police, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Police, and other authorities around the state.
