Project Warm Blitz Kicks Off This Saturday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — More than 260 homes will be a little less drafty and a little more energy efficient this winter thanks to hundreds of volunteers from across Louisville that will weatherize the homes of area low-income elderly and disabled citizens this Saturday.
Who: More than 720 volunteers from LG&E and various businesses, schools, churches and community organizations will join forces in this annual weatherization effort that takes place over the next two Saturdays.
What: 19th annual Project Warm Blitz. More than 3,000 households have been helped since the inaugural Blitz in 1991. The event is part of a larger energy efficiency campaign supported by Louisville Metro, Louisville Gas and Electric Company and its parent E.ON U.S.
Volunteers will work in teams of up to five people and focus on simple weatherization techniques such as applying plastic to windows. Project Warm estimates these basic techniques can help customers save up to 20 percent on their winter heating bills.
Where: Please call the media hotline for information about client locations.
LG&E is a wholly-owned subsidiary of E.ON U.S. LLC that serves 314,000 natural gas and 389,000 electric customers in Louisville, Ky., and 16 surrounding counties.
