KU Brings Energy Education for Children to Kentucky Teachers
11.02.2009
What: School teachers from the Madisonville-Hopkins County area tomorrow (November 3) will attend a free energy education workshop designed to help them implement energy programs in their classrooms which correspond to Kentucky Core Content and the National Science Education and Standards.
Tomorrow's training is one of the first of many statewide workshops sponsored by Kentucky Utilities Company and Louisville Gas and Electric Company. The utilities have partnered with the Kentucky National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project to deliver professional development in energy efficiency and energy-related concepts curriculum at no charge to all public, private, and independent elementary and middle schools that receive electric service through KU or LG&E.
Teachers will leave the workshop with the training and materials they need to help them improve student achievement in energy-related education, and receive on-going classroom support for their efforts.
Media is invited to attend the Madisonville training event and interview participating teachers and project coordinators. Please contact Cliff Feltham at 859-367-1105 or at cliff.feltham@lge-ku.com for additional information.
