E.ON U.S. and KCTCS to Announce Post-Secondary Education Opportunity
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On July 28, E.ON U.S. and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) will announce a new partnership that will give E.ON U.S. employees with line technician or gas operations experience the opportunity to engage in post-secondary education while working for the company.
The new program will enable E.ON U.S. employees with line technician or gas operations experience to pursue an associate, bachelor's or master's degree. The employees can use the technical training hours they have already accumulated for their jobs as credit hours.
The program is unique in that workers can attend class on E.ON U.S. property, on a campus or online. The curriculum is especially designed for workers who frequently have unpredictable work hours because of emergency situations. Further, it helps E.ON U.S. prepare for the future.
"The continuing education and development of our employees is critical to keep up with technological advancements and new business demands," said Chris Hermann, Senior Vice President of Energy Delivery for E.ON U.S. "KCTCS has enabled us to leverage the specialized training of these key employees, while allowing them to serve the needs of the business.
"This partnership is a prime example of KCTCS' commitment to assist the state in creating a competitive workforce," said KCTCS President Michael B. McCall.
"Working with E.ON U.S. is part of our strategy to re-engineer the services and programs we provide to be more responsive to the needs of Kentucky's businesses and industries, particularly in high-growth segments such as the energy industry."
Also supporting the program is Industrial Training Services, based in Murray, which offers specialized training for natural gas operations employees and Western Kentucky University, through which employees can pursue a master's degree.
The kick-off event will be at E.ON U.S.'s East Operations Center, 10300 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, 40241, beginning at 3 p.m.
E.ON U.S., headquartered in Louisville, Ky., is a subsidiary of E.ON A.G., the world's largest investor-owned energy services provider.
