LG&E Files Notice of Intent To Construct Three Transmission Lines
(LOUISVILLE, KY. - April 11, 2005) LG&E announced, in a Friday filing with the Kentucky Public Service Commission, that it plans to build three new transmission lines in central Kentucky to enhance reliability and meet increasing customer demand.
Plans in the Certificate of Convenience and Necessity call for a new 345 kV transmission line extending 30 miles from the Mill Creek Station in Jefferson County to Hardin County; a new 138 kV transmission line extending from Kentucky Utilities' (KU) Tyrone Station approximately 10 miles through Franklin County; and a three-mile 345 kV line extending from LG&E's Trimble County Station north to a connecting point with Public Service Indiana.
"These lines are part of our most important project in recent history. They are essential to meet our customers' growing demand and to maintain our ability to reliably transmit power throughout central Kentucky's electric grid," said Mark Johnson, Director of Transmission. "If approved by the Kentucky Public Service Commission, they will ensure our low cost energy will be there as local communities continue economic growth in the future. The lines will also ensure adequate electricity will be there to support economic growth for our local communities in the future."
LG&E & KU will host three information sessions to provide project information to the public. These sessions are:
- Elizabethtown Convention Center, April 19 - Mill Creek to Hardin County Transmission Line
- Robert B. Turner Elementary School, Lawrenceburg, April 26 - Tyrone to West Frankfort Transmission Line
- Trimble County High School, Trimble County, April 28 - Trimble County PSI Interconnection
All meetings will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
