LG&E Energy Recognized as Number One in Midwest in Annual J.D. Power Survey

(LOUISVILLE, KY - July 21, 2005) - Just last week the nominees for this Emmy awards were announced, and that can only mean one thing for the utility industry - the announcement of the results of this year's J.D. Power survey of residential electric customers.

Again this year, LG&E Energy is among the winners. For the sixth time in seven years, customers of Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company have made LG&E Energy number one in the Midwest. LG&E Energy's score rose three points over last year. The company outperformed all other utilities in the region in power quality and reliability; company image, price and value; and billing and payment.

The annual study measures customer satisfaction for the electric utility industry; results are based on customer responses from more than 26,000 telephone interviews conducted from April 7, 2005 through June 5, 2005. Residents of the nation's 78 largest electric utilities are contacted to participate in this premier national standard of measuring customer satisfaction among electric customers.

"I can't say enough good things about our customers and how great they are," said LG&E Energy President and CEO Vic Staffieri. "I want to thank those who participated in the survey and let them know how much we appreciate their confidence and faith in us. Our employees are second to none. They go the extra mile time after time and work through some of the most challenging situations always with the customer in mind. This pat on the back from our customers will certainly reinforce the strong commitment already demonstrated by our employees."

Since 1999, LG&E Energy has finished no lower than third in the Midwest region and twice has led the nation in the annual survey.
