Join LG&E, Louisville Metro Police Department at the 21st Annual National Crime Night Out

(LOUISVILLE, Ky. - July 30, 2004) LG&E will focus on safety at the 21st annual "National Crime Night Out (NCNO), a unique crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). The event will be promoted locally by the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) through its ten police districts on Tuesday, Aug. 3.

Each police district will hold a community fair designed to promote involvement in crime and drug prevention activities, strengthen police-community relations, and encourage neighborhood camaraderie as part of the fight for safer streets.

LG&E's safety booth will be featured at the Adam Police District Headquarters, located in Middletown at the East Government Center, 200 North Juneau Drive, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Mini-City electric safety demonstration and Louie the Lightning Bug will be featured. Parents also can have identification cards made of their children free of charge through LG&E's Kidprint ID Program.

The LMPD will display equipment from the Air Unit, Bomb Squad, Mounted Patrol, Dive Team, and SWAT units. Information on crime prevention and block watch programs will also be available.

"This event is geared towards bringing community members out to interact with each other, the law enforcement officers in their district, and businesses such as LG&E, that care about public safety," said Sgt. Robert Davis, Louisville Metro Police Department. "We're proud that LG&E is once again partnering with the LMPD to make the community a safer place to work and live."

Since 1984, "National Night Out" has grown to involve over 30 million people from more than 9,000 communities. Contact your local police district for more information on events happening in your area. Note: National Crime Night Out is held outdoors. If it is raining the event will be cancelled.
