15 Students Receive LG&E Energy Foundation Scholarships
(LOUISVILLE, Ky. - July 12, 2004) As part of its long-standing commitment to education, the LG&E Energy Foundation has awarded scholarships to 15 students whose parents are LG&E Energy employees.
Six of the fifteen scholarships were awarded to Louisville-area students. Laura Clements of Assumption, Jessica Faulkenberg of Presentation, Mark Fergason of Oldham County, Brian Foxworthy of Floyd Central, Kenneth Hurst of Dupont Manual, and Christopher Weis of Trinity will receive an annual scholarship of $1,200 to be used toward college expenses. The winners were chosen from a pool of more than 80 applicants to receive the LG&E Energy Foundation scholarship.
"The Foundation scholarship program reinforces our belief that education is the key to success," said Chip Keeling, Vice President, Communications. "We're very proud of all the recipients and congratulate them on their hard work and wish them luck as they enter a new and exciting period in their development."
A committee comprised of impartial judges from outside of LG&E Energy selected the recipients based on academic skills, school and community activities, leadership abilities and communication skills. Scholarships are renewed each year, as long as the student continues to meet the eligibility requirements.
Founded in 1994, the LG&E Energy Foundation is a non-profit subsidiary of LG&E Energy that presents grants to 501(c)(3) organizations that are located in the company's service area.
