Give the Gift of Warmth this Holiday Season with Gift Certificates from LG&E Energy
(LOUISVILLE, Ky. - November 18, 2003) LG&E, KU, and ODP customers can now make the holiday season a little warmer for a loved one with Holiday Utility Gift (HUG) certificates on sale now from LG&E Energy.
A HUG is a gift certificate that credits the utility account of any LG&E, KU, or ODP customer. Instead of working like a traditional gift certificate, which can be lost, stolen, or accidentally thrown away, a HUG is a credit placed directly on a customer's account. The credit is subtracted from the customer's next bill. After a customer purchases a HUG, they receive a gift certificate to present to the recipient indicating the amount of the purchase, which will be credited to the customer's account.
"When people think of giving gift certificates, they may immediately think of purchasing the more traditional gift certificates offered by local restaurants, department stores or movie theaters. But now people can give a gift certificate from the local utility company. We are very excited about this practical, new gift alternative," said Dave Vogel, LG&E Energy's Vice-President of Retail Services.
To purchase a HUG, LG&E, KU, and ODP customers can visit the company's walk-in customer service centers during normal business hours. In order to ensure the proper account is credited, customers should be prepared to provide the address of the HUG recipient. HUGs start at $25 and can be purchased by cash or check in any denomination. The HUG program continues through Monday, Dec. 22.
