Children's Energy Education Program For Teachers The LG&E and KU Children's Energy Education Program is designed to provide students and teachers with quality energy curriculum and training, but it is also designed to provide teachers and school district personnel with the training and support they need to integrate effective energy education into schools. Many schools set up school student energy teams that work with administrators, teachers and school facilities staff to monitor and reduce energy use. Through our partnership with Kentucky NEED (National Energy Education Development), teachers throughout the LG&E and KU service area have access to resources committed to helping them establish successful programs in local schools.LG&E and KU selected NEED as the curriculum provider for the Children's Energy Education Program. Materials are updated annually with the most current information available from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The curriculum provided to participating schools is aligned to Kentucky's Core Content and Program of Studies. The NEED Alignment to the Kentucky Standards spreadsheet provides educators with a quick alignment to state standards. |
